Sri Lanka has officially introduced a Digital Nomad Visa (DNV) program aimed at attracting foreign professionals who wish to live in Sri Lanka while working remotely for overseas employers or clients.
The initiative positions Sri Lanka as a competitive long-stay destination in Asia for digital professionals, freelancers, and remote entrepreneurs.

Under the newly launched framework:
•Applicants must be 18 years or older
•Must be engaged in remote employment, freelancing, or operate a business not registered in Sri Lanka
•All income must originate from foreign sources
•Minimum monthly remittance of USD 2,000 for the main applicant
•If dependents exceed two persons, an additional USD 500 per dependent per month is required
Spouses and dependents are eligible to apply under the same visa category.

Digital Nomad Visa holders are entitled to:
•Legal residence in Sri Lanka for one year (renewable annually)

•Access telecommunications, internet, and utility services
•Participate in co-working and ICT programs
However, visa holders are:
